ABOUT

Taylor Mackenzie Smith is a New York–based performer, choreographer, and creative originally from Atlanta, Georgia. She began her formal dance training at Norma's Academy of Dance and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Drama with a concentration in Dance from Spelman College. During her undergraduate studies, she also trained at The Ailey School through Fordham University.

Taylor recently appeared in The Classical Theatre of Harlem’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream as part of Harlem’s free Shakespeare in the Park. She made her New York City Center Encores! debut in Jelly’s Last Jam and was previously seen on the North American Tour of Disney’s Aladdin, where she performed in the Ensemble and later returned as a Vacation Swing.

As a Choreographer and Movement Director, Taylor has served as Associate Movement Director on Broadway’s Slave Play and Richard III for Shakespeare in the Park, both choreographed by Byron Easley and directed by Robert O'Hara. She has also worked as Easley’s assistant choreographer on multiple productions, including MARION: The Musical directed by Tamara Tunie, Matilda the Musical at Olney Theatre Center, and Twelfth Night at Yale Repertory Theatre. This fall, she will choreograph Once on This Island at Theatre Raleigh.

When she isn’t on stage or in the studio, Taylor can often be found curating events or unwinding in a hot yoga class.
